an early summer flower...

I have no idea what this flower in the Enchanted Adventure Garden at Arthurs Seat may be...
But it fascinates me...

That is Nigella damascena, Love-in-a-Mist, I have had some that self-sows and keeps coming back every spring for the last 20 years. I bought some seeds this year that have more colors, since mine are only blue, the lavender color is pretty. They are edible, but the one used more for food is Nigella sativa, Black Cumin, used for its very healthy oil.

Thank you ever so much Hannah. The flower had to have a pretty and romantic name to match its amazing design.
